November 27 2005:
The last few days were extremely fascinating weatherwise. Friday a severe gale hit the western shores of the Netherlands. During the night Hoek van Holland measured wind gusts up to 172 km/hr with a 10-min average of hurricance force wind speeds. The severe gale lasted 24 hours! In the west lots of rain fell, locally more than 70 mm. In the east it kept on snowing for hours, resulting in a winter wonderland at many places. Locally about 30 cm of snow accumulated. There were power blackouts and traffic came to a complete standstill (traffic jams more than 800 km long in total, a new record!) In my homewtown no real spectacle occured however and in the north conditions remained very quiet and dry.
During the weekend the wintry weather remained at some places, resulting in slippery roads.

November 24 2005:
Weather turned colder last week and we had a couple of frosty nights. The last days were very quiet with high pressure (nearly 1040 hPa!) around. Skies were often grey though. Things will change from tonight on. An active low (975 hPa) will bring severe gales and heavy wintry showers! Hopefully something photogenic will show up.

November 15 2005:
Yesterday many locations got their first frost of the new winter season! During the day sunny skies and highs above 10 degrees made is quite pleasant however. After todays rain a cold and moderately unstable airmass will conquer the country, so we could see some nice convection at last. I hope to shoot some photos tomorrow!

November 13 2005:
The last week was very mild with highs near or over 15 degrees. Weather turned more unsettled however and from yesterday on the temperature dropped to near normal values. The week to come could bring some active and hopefully photogenic weather!

November 3 2005:
Added a new Photo of the Month
October 2005 was extremely mild; it became the second warmest October month in the Netherlands since records began. Especially the last week of the month was exeptionally warm. Furthermore it was very sunny and rather dry.
November started somewhat unsettled but mild as well. Today could become the warmest November day ever recorded at some places in our country.
