January 23 2007:
After a long mild period with often wet and windy conditions (even a strong wind storm on January 18th) winter has arrived in the Netherlands! Temperatures dropped to well below zero (down to -9 in eastern parts of the country) during the night and just above freezing in most places during the day. Furthermore coastal areas deal with a couple of wintry showers, locally resulting in a white world. This cold spell will last untill the weekend, when milder air will likely conquer the nation again. Most likely January 2007 will become the mildest ever recorded in the Netherlands!
January 11 2007:
The extremely mild and often windy weather continues in the Netherlands. Highs exceeded 13 degrees during the first half of the week, record breaking temperatures. Today a strong southwesterly gale and very high wind gusts batter the country. There is a chance of some spectacular linear convection this afternoon!

Added a new Photo of the Month
A mild month again in the Netherlands. December 2006 was 2.5 degrees milder than on average. Rain amounts and sunshine were rather normal.
The new year started mild as well, with windy and often wet weather. No winter in sight for at least the next two weeks.
